Meet Sharon
Board Certified, Licensed Lactation Consultant
Breastfeeding has been my passion for over 20 years. My journey began with some challenging personal experiences and little available support sparking a desire to learn more about breastfeeding, bonding, child behavior and development, and parenting through La Leche League. Along the way I became a pediatric/Maternal Child Health Nurse, an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and a Licensed Lactation Consultant in the state of Rhode Island. I am passionate about continuing my education and enjoy staying up-to-date with the latest breastfeeding trends through conferences, conferring with colleagues, reading the latest research, and learning from the families I have the pleasure of working with.
My professional background includes several years of providing lactation support for a local hospital helping babies and moms in the first days after birth, home based lactation support and maternal/child health care from birth to age 3, client and peer breastfeeding education, and facilitating support groups. The range of my experience gives me a unique perspective and an ability to utilize a multi-faceted approach in my practice.
I strive to offer warm support, gentle encouragement and a sense of empowerment while providing practical evidence-based tools to guide parents in their breastfeeding experience, sprinkled with a bit of humor. Every visit is tailored to each family's needs, every care plan is individualized to meet their unique circumstances and characteristics. I look forward to meeting you and helping with your feeding challenges and more.

"Sharon was patient, caring, and very informative during our lactation consult. She was able to provide some great tips to make breastfeeding more comfortable."
"Sharon was so nice and helpful. I have used tips she shared with me in regards to breastfeeding. I felt comfortable talking with her and asking questions. The visit was well worth it."
"My experience with Sharon was excellent. She was knowledgeable, helpful, attentive and a great resource for breastfeeding”
" I can't thank Sharon enough for all of her help and encouragement. She made me feel so much better and relieved that we are on the right track."
"I am not quite sure how to put my gratitude in to words. You visited me twice with my first daughter. I was struggling with nursing and felt like I was failing. You were so kind and caring, but also realistic. Your advice has carried with me through four nursing relationships. I now have four daughters, the youngest juts two months old. I nursed my first for a year, my second for 14 months, 3rd for 18 months and now two months in with my last baby, Whenever I am asked for advice about nursing I always say that it is hard, but that I had a visiting nurse that was so helpful. I remember you encouraging me to try and make it to six weeks and then to see how I was feeling. I repeated that in my head to make it to six weeks, at first in my mind I thought I could stop at six weeks, but by the time I made it that far, it became far easier and more comfortable. Now six years and four babies later, I am proud of my breastfeeding journey, that I have had the gift of being successful four times over, and I truly credit that to you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
